Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile

The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, the conference venue, was offering Animal Law Conference attendees a special rate of $229/night plus tax. Each newly-renovated room included 1 King or 2 Double beds, a private bathroom, high-speed internet access available for a fee, a flat-screen LCD TV with HD channels, a coffee maker, a hairdryer, iron/ironing board, room service, a safe, and more. There was off-site self-parking available for $27/day and valet parking available for $61/day.

Ground Transportation

Transit

  • O’Hare International Airport – It takes approximately 50 minutes by CTA “L” train to travel from O’Hare International Airport to downtown Chicago. From the airport baggage claim area, look for signs for “CTA Trains” or “Trains to the City.” You can purchase a CTA “L” train ticket ($5 from O’Hare) with cash or credit at the vending machines located outside the station. The train runs every 3 – 10 minutes to and from the airport depending on the time of day.
  • There are two ways to get to the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile from O’Hare International Airport.
    • To travel to the hotel without transferring trains:
      • Catch the CTA “L” Blue Line train towards “Forest Park”. Exit the train at the “Clark/Lake” stop which is located at the intersection of N Clark St and Lake St in downtown Chicago. Walk east along Lake St towards N State St. Turn left on N State St and continue walking north for approximately 10 minutes until you reach E Grand Ave. Turn right on E Grand Ave, walk two blocks, then turn left on N Rush St. The driveway entrance to the hotel will be on your right at 541 N Rush St.
    • To travel to the hotel with one train transfer:
      • Catch the CTA “L” Blue Line train towards “Forest Park”. Exit the train at the “Washington” stop and exit the station via the Randolph-Washington exit, following signs for “Access to Red Line trains” or “Red Line trains ahead”. Follow the mezzanine-level pedway through Block 37 Center to the “Lake” Red Line station.
      • Catch the CTA “L” Red Line train towards “Howard” and exit the train at the “Grand” stop. Exit the station via the “Grand/State” exit and head south on N State St toward E Grand Ave. Turn left onto E Grand Ave, walk two blocks, then turn left onto N Rush St. The driveway entrance to the hotel will be on your right at 541 N Rush St.
      • NB: Transferring to Red Line trains at the “Lake” station is free of charge, but you may still need to swipe your CTA pass to board the train.
  • Midway International Airport – It takes approximately 40 minutes by CTA “L” train to travel from Midway International Airport to downtown Chicago. From the airport baggage claim area, look for signs for “CTA Trains” or “Trains to the City.” An orange line painted on the ground will lead you to the Orange Line station. You can purchase a CTA “L” train ticket ($2.50 from Midway) with cash or credit at the vending machines located outside the station. The train runs every 3 – 10 minutes to and from the airport depending on the time of day.

Taxis, Lyft & Uber

Taxis, Lyft, and Uber all operate from O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport. Depending on the time of day, it will take approximately 50 minutes from O’Hare and 40 minutes from Midway to get to downtown Chicago. Fares will range from $30-$50.

Airport Shuttle

  • GO Airport Express offers door-to-door service from O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport to the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile and other downtown hotels.
    • O’Hare International Airport – Shuttles leave O’Hare airport for all downtown hotels every 10 to 15 minutes from terminals 1E, 3F, 2D and 5E. You do not need a reservation if you are leaving O’Hare for downtown. Reservations are required if you are traveling to the airport. Their rates are $32 each way.
    • Midway International Airport – The Airport Express van leaves Midway going to all hotels in downtown Chicago every 15 minutes. You do not need a reservation if you are leaving Midway for downtown. Reservations are required if you are traveling to the airport. Their rates are $27 each way.
