Cynthia von Schlichten has been practicing law for over 14 years. A lifelong animal rights advocate, she is currently the General Counsel for Farm Sanctuary, Inc., a U.S. based animal rights nonprofit, and has been with the organization for over four years. Cynthia has an LLM in Animal Law from Lewis & Clark Law School’s Center for Animal Law Studies (CALS) and is currently an adjunct professor for CALS. Cynthia is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, its Animals in Agriculture subcommittee, and is co-chair of its International Animal Law subcommittee. She is a regular speaker on animal rights issues, presenting most recently in person at the International Animal Rights Conference that was held in Luxembourg in 2023. For over 20 years, Cynthia has been a dedicated participant in this movement and remains impassioned about taking on the challenges ahead to make the world a better place for animals.
