Lewis & Clark Law School and the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) began hosting animal law conferences in 1982. In 1993, Lewis & Clark hosted its first animal law symposium, which grew into an annual event. By 2013, the ALDF and the Center for Animal Law Studies joined forces to co-present “The Animal Law Conference.” Now the leading event in the field, it alternates between Portland, Oregon, and other cities to reach a broader audience.
