Reverend Gary Kowalski is the author of numerous books on animals, spirituality, history and the environment, including The Souls of Animals, Goodbye Friend: Healing Wisdom For Anyone Who Has Ever Lost A Pet, The Bible According to Noah: Theology As If Animals Mattered, Science and the Search for God, and Blessings of the Animals. A graduate of Harvard College and the Harvard Divinity School, he is past president of Unitarian Universalists for Ethical Treatment of Animals and was active for many years on the board of Green Mountain Animal Defenders, where he spearheaded passage of a local ordinance to ban circus animals from the city where he lives.
