Michelle J. Kirton is an associate director and the training director at the Lewis & Clark College Counseling Service, where she also provides direct clinical services to Lewis & Clark College students. In addition to doing a number of administrative tasks/projects focused on providing clinical care to Lewis & Clark’s students, she facilitates a training program for Pacific University’s School of Graduate Psychology’s doctoral students. The program centers on providing trainees with professional development focused on multiculturalism, ethics, and therapy skills for a generalist practitioner. Her Ph.D. is from Arizona State University–Tempe, and her M.S. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Since higher education settings have been a focus for Dr. Kirton, she has also worked with students at Oregon Health Science University, and has created and taught courses for Pacific University and for Portland State University.
